| In Memory of Melissa Marie Mackenzie-Trothen
Melissa was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, and co-founded the Heart Defects Society. She passed away at the young age of 27 due to complications following corrective surgery.
Basis of the fund:
Melissa strongly felt that it was an extreme burden on families having to travel to London or Toronto for cardiac care. She spoke about this on several occasions. In her memory, we have created the Melissa Trothen Memorial Fund as a way to help families experiencing financial difficulties due to a loved one's hospitalization or treatment out of the Windsor area.
