Second Annual Heart Defects Society Walk'n Roll
Our Walk’n Roll Walkathon took place on Saturday, October 4, 2008.
This year, 135 people participated in the 5 km walk starting at Assumption Park, going to Dieppe Park and back.
We encouraged everyone who’s lives have been touched by heart defects to come out and help us raise awareness about the number one birth defect in the world.
We raised a total of just over $8500 from the sponsorships and pledges collected.

| Special Thanks to:
Krisztina Muscat, for assisting in the planning of the WnR. We are also grateful to her for making all of the cupcakes, the heart necklaces (for those honouring loved ones, or walking in memory of someone), as well as stepping up to the plate and making a salad, and allowing us to borrow tables.
Kathy Watson, Victoria Goodwin, Teila Desnoyes and the other volunteers (I'm sorry I didn't get all of your names!) for their help distibuting the Walk'n Roll 2008 shirts.
Fred Phelps for taking pictures to document our event.
Anna St. John, for being our halfway marker, equipped with water for the participants, and also helping out at the time for the BBQ by collecting tickets for the meals.
Anne and Bernie Caza, as well as Anita Caza for passing out the hearts for people to wear. Also, thanks to Bernie for barbequing the hamburgers for us, and taking pictures.
Al Fazio, who stepped in at the last minute, and gave a great performance for our audience. Thank you so much for your wonderful music, and we hope to have you back for future events!
Caitlynn and Mandi Wright for their help at the registration table.
Josh LeClair for helping with set up and clean up.
Jeanne Dufault for encouraging many of her students to collect pledges and come out to volunteer.
All of our volunteers that helped set up, clean up, and we readily available to help as much as they could.
All of the students that came out to volunteer for their community hours. I hope the day turned out to be great day for them, where they are learning the lessons of giving for gain, other than self worth, and satisfaction of a job well done.
Personally, I would also like to thank Beatrice Phelps, John Goodwin and Brian Caza for stepping up to the plate when two of the other board members had an emergency come up. Pulling together, you helped in the planning, the organizing, and helped the day go off without a hitch.
This year's event ran so much smoother than last year, and applause all around to all of you on a job well done!
